Active Relationships for Young Adults

ARYA (pronounced “are ya”) is a 12-session, 45-minute/session, skills-based program to equip youth to make wise choices for a successful life.  A.R.Y.A. teaches youth how to build healthy, respectful relationships at home, school and at work. There is a Secular edition and a Christian A.R.Y.A available.

A.R.Y.A. equips youth with practical tools and skills that include promoting responsibility for more peacefully interpreting events and teaching skills for recognizing and lessening destructive behaviors.

Participant Goals also include:

  • Learning effective communication
  • Avoiding faulty assumptions (more peaceful interpretation of others)
  • Addressing money management, responsibility and budgeting
  • Managing emotional triggers/upsets/anger
  • Implementing effective, respectful conflict resolution
  • Awareness of personal safety and breaking cycles of violence
  • Learning about responsible parenting and paternity awareness

Also, it teaches youth to analyze the consistency of behavior in friends before awarding them their trust. It cautions youth about influences of attraction phases. The program teaches youth to set goals and to navigate and overcome barriers.

A.R.Y.A. is evidence-based and used by federal grantees, schools, and agencies, including correctional facilities for struggling youth.

What is required to teach A.R.Y.A.:

*Facilitator certification (“live” training or by Certification-Out-of-a Box kit)

*One textbook or one workbook per student (to keep) for each class taught.

Optional: Multi-media tools for presenters (PowerPoint presentation and youth activity DVD/Video segments)

Companion/parallel program:

Active Adults is used in federal healthy marriage programs and in agencies including correctional and ex-offender communities. This curriculum is available in English or Spanish.
