An OPPORTUNITY to “get in on the
ground floor”
Become a PROFESSIONAL TRAINER of other professionals…
Summary:
The
course description: a 16-week course (60 class hours), Mondays
1-5pm, TBA. Location
of course: 9400 N. Central Expwy. (in central Dallas). *Course
led by Active Relationships founder, author, Kelly Simpson.
*This course will require an
application and requires previous experience providing presentations
in agency, faith-based, or private practice settings. *Trainer
status may be conferred TBA based upon performance during the
course. Some participants may be solely awarded leader status
(to teach to the public), but may not reach the level required
to become an ARC professional trainer. This is at the
discretion of ARC/Kelly Simpson and is based upon the individual
participant’s attendance, professionalism, dedication to
the assimilation of material presented and his/her proficiency
(including presentation style) demonstrated during the course.
Course Format: Lecture, Exercises, Peer Presentation Practice
(some homework will be required to adequately learn lectures/presentations and practice
groups will be recommended at times). Additional requirements may apply.
Possible uses of “ARC Train the Trainer”
status: ability to train others to
lead ARC courses in your organization, ability to train professionals of state agencies or
other organizations to lead courses for their clientele.
Courses
included in Train the Trainer College: the entire Mastery
Series (four-seminars for adult singles and couples) including Active Communication, Active
Money Personalities,
Active Romance, and Active Living to make Love
Strong. Also included are Active Relationships for Young Adults “ARYA” (a youth program
for ages 13 -18), Active Adults (a parent edition that
coincides with ARYA and can also be used for adult classes in faith-based or other
organizational settings), Active
Families (a 7-hour program to teach whole families-several families at a time
in the same classroom setting). Active Military Reunions and
Active Military Life Skills. OF SPECIAL NOTE: Several of these programs
also have Christian editions and are soon to have Spanish editions.
Cost for 16-week Train the Trainer College: $1600 ($100/person for each week’s
four-hour session). $250 non-refundable deposit required upon acceptance to
reserve space.

consistent, contributing member of a Texas healthy marriage coalition and upon offering evidence of that
membership, cost will be discounted to $800/person for the 16-week course ($50/week) with
a $250 non-refundable deposit upon acceptance into the course.
Class Size: Although the need for relationship
education is pervasive and the agencies utilizing such education
are rapidly increasing across both state and federal spectrums,
the class size for ARC’s 2006 Train the Trainer College
is limited to qualified individuals.

Facilitators' Training Events:
Note: these Facilitator Trainings
certify attendees
to lead programs for clients,
but DO NOT certify attendees to train other professionals to
lead programs.
To train other professionals see the “Train the Trainer College"
Pursuant to
a "healthy marriage initiative grant awarded the FAR Foundation,
there will be three 2006 capacity building facilitator seminars.
These seminars are intended to equip area professionals with
skills necessary to teach Active Relationships programs to your
clientele (in prison ministry, chemical addiction rehabilitation,
refugee resettlement, child welfare or other setting.). These
are Facilitator Certification Trainings. The usual fee for these
trainings is $595 per two-day training. HOWEVER: These
three trainings are being offered through FAR for materials
fees only: $32/seminar/person! If a husband and wife attend
together, the spouse may attend without charge and may share
materials.
If you choose to attend for the usual
fee of $595 there will be no additional requirements.
If you choose to attend this
professional facilitator training through the FAR Foundation Grant (a fee of $32 only per
attendee!) the specific requirements below will apply:
Requirements:
1.
Professionals attending any of these trainings will be required to teach TWO
classes of at least 12 people per class (at only a nominal materials fee to
participants) within six months of the date of the training. This ensures that the
leader will practice the new skills, become more familiar with the program (and teaching
to real couples) and will in turn offer at little cost, a valuable service for
families who might not otherwise afford the event.
2.
Professionals trained through FAR’s grant will be responsible for
purchasing materials for participants of the two workshops they are required to teach.
(One book per attending couple sharing materials = $32). However, Active Relationships
Center will donate as in-kind services 50% of the cost of these books for the two
classes required per leader. Therefore for THIS opportunity only (two workshops), the
leader will be able to purchase couples’ materials at a cost of only $16/couple. It
will be at the discretion of the leader whether to have the couples pay $16 each for books
or whether the church or leader will personally subsidize the discounted books.
3.
Professional who train and teach the required two classes within six months of the
training date will be required to gather data and to encourage participants to complete
anonymous research assessments for the purpose of demonstrating the outcomes of such
courses on the couples served. Leaders will be responsible for gathering and submitting
this data to the representative entity conducting the research. Specific information
regarding how to do this will be presented at the training.

This training will
teach key tools from each of the four Mastery Series seminars. One half of each day of the
two institute days will cover the most important theories, teachings and most necessary
techniques for successfully leading one of the four seminars. By the completion of the
two-day institute, participants will have covered the major points and techniques of all
four mastery series seminars.
Participants will receive participant workbooks for each
of the four mastery seminars. (Additional material, DVD
videos, necessary to become fully trained in the Mastery Series
Programs will also be given to participants.) To become fully trained in the four mastery
series programs participants will be required to view the complete
DVD videos at their convenience and complete and return required

Other Train the TRAINER TRACKS: If you have an interest in becoming a trainer to teach other professionals within
your organization to lead ARC Programs, please contact Kelly Simpson directly for
information on qualifications and requirements.
Specific Training Answers
- Trainings vary depending upon the needs of the organization
- Usually leaders are licensed mental health professionals, or clergy, or leaders
chosen by their organization
- Trainings can include spouses (however, spouses are not required to attend), if
training participant is married. ARC Programs have profound effects on our personal
understanding and in our relationships. It is helpful to experience it personally, while
training, to more effectively teach it.
- Trainings are held according to logistical considerations. If enough
professionals wish to train in a geographical area, ARC can bring a training to that area.
Dates of trainings are based on need in geographical areas and availability of trainers.
- Trainings are led by ARC Trainers who are chosen by the founder, Kelly Simpson.
They are chosen for their outstanding leadership and teaching capabilities. They are
exceptional.
- Those trained will be certified at the completion of the training to teach only
the programs for which they have attended in full. Trained leaders will be able to teach
to singles, newlyweds and to long time married couples.
- Once trained, leaders who teach seminars must purchase workbooks for each
participant or may purchase one participant workbook per couple (couples may share a
workbook.) See products page for costs of available teaching aids and for costs of
participants workbooks.
Program use
- ARC in Texas will allow organizations to assess participants fees at their
discretion. ARC does not take part in this decision.
- There must be a fee paid to ARC for one book per participant or one book
per participant couple in each program offered. (Ordered through ARC) The participants
should be allowed to keep their books as reference material.
- To retain certification, a yearly ARC dues submission of $35 is required and
allows your organization to be listed in upcoming schedule (now in process) of ARC
providers on ARC's website. This fee is waived for the first year of certification.
- The programs can be offered in a variety of formats. For example, programs can be
taught in full day formats or in segments over a number of evenings. This is at the
organization's discretion.
- Prices for ARC participant materials vary per program. Participant materials
costs are in keeping with typical workbook fees for other national programs. Call for
updated schedules of fees for materials. Teaching aids are also available and are optional
at additional cost. See products page for a list of prices and available teaching aids.
