MORE ABOUT... Active Military Life Skills

Military Life Skills is best described as providing important tactical skills for developing emotional literacy. This text is designed especially for post-combat, although it can be used anytime during the military career.

Used in 2004 and 2005 for single OEF and OIF troops, Military Life Skills provides important communication tools and a heavy dose of research-based techniques for managing anger, for managing difficult conversations with curious civilians, for seizing the opportunity to live life effectively in money matters and in dating wisely. While allowing for decompression from deployment, Military Life Skills gives practical situations for troops to relate to and provides practice in skills, BEFORE they do something that will not result in their long term success.

Military Life Skills conducts serious business about the "what to" and "what not to do" in life, while making it fun and interesting for participants. Humorous videos from current day media are provided to illustrate key points, and activities involve lively discussions and demonstrations for resolving conflict effectively.

MORE ABOUT… Active Military Reunions

Active Military Reunions focuses on the stresses of returning to family and loved ones after being stationed elsewhere. This program can be used by single or married troops, and is effective with a partner present or individually if a partner is far away. The techniques taught in this seminar are focused on smoothing the transition from a very specialized communication style used while away to an effective way of communicating in relationships. Active Military Reunions places special emphasis on how and when to share traumatic events, and on how someone can accept that their partner is reluctant to share such events.

Some bases use the opportunity to bring Simpson in to present to troops while allowing Family Advocacy personnel, Chaplains and others attend and earn certification to lead Active Military Life Skills or Reunions programs themselves. A two-for-one; Troop event and leadership training!

The four Mastery Series programs can be taught individually or in any sequence as The Mastery Series©. Successfully completing all programs entitles you to receive certification as a Mastery Series Leader©. You will receive an advanced certificate with this designation as well as being designated as qualified to lead the Mastery Series© on ARC's website.

See current calendar for upcoming trainings at bases that can be attended, with permission of the base Chaplains in charge of the trainings. Join the seminar with the troops and gain your certification at the same time!
