Immigration & Customs Enforcement

From August 2009 to May 2010, HARP Cameron County has been hosting workshops for the incarcerated at the Port Isabel Detention Center (US Immigration and Customs Enforcement). Inmates are being taught the Active Adults curriculum and are learning life-skills for better relationships. Inmates learn tools for communicating more effectively, managing emotional triggers, anger management, money management, defining and changing destructive behaviors, and tools for conflict resolution. The program is well accepted and has had a tremendous impact in the lives of those who attend the classes.
