Leader Trainings,
Materials and Technical Assistance by ARC
for Healthy Marriage Education in Your Community

Active Relationships Center is pleased to offer a plan for
help to your community organization to build and administer healthy marriage
education. There are many efficient and best practices of the trade. ARC is a
healthy marriage grantee and also has been in the business of marriage
education for 10 years.
We have a team of experienced professionals that can assist
you during the process of ramping up your program, producing a public awareness
campaign, and assisting with program needs. First determine if our program fits
your needs.
Steps:
To view the ACF criteria that the new ARC 8-hour program meets, click on the
“ACF Curriculum Guide Assessment” in the middle of the ARC homepage.
(1) To see choices for
training (and costs to train) your leaders to teach marriage education, click
on “Leader Trainings” on the left side of the ARC homepage.
NOTE: There is now an 8-hour (one day training that is not
yet posted but is available). Cost to train facilitators is
a flat trainer fee of $1,500/day
(regardless of the number trained) + travel expenses (approximately
$1,200). Additional expense=$24/person for book.
(2) To ask about
partnering with ARC for Technical Assistance or for a
letter of support (MOU): Call ARC (877-724-7789) and email Director:
Kelly Simpson at contact@ActiveRelationships.com.
(3) Note: Cost for
participant materials for the new 8-hour best practices program (in
Spanish or English) -$24/book or $21 for orders of 50 or more. Couples can
share a book.
Another recommendation is the following for your grant:
Include in your grant that you would like to seek assistance from ARC in building your project.
(ARC has a strong track record for building HMI communities.)
Budget approximately $10,000 for direct start-up
assistance (months 1-5) and $1,000 per month for the remaining months of the
grant) for 1:1 technical assistance from ARC to help you
accomplish the following:
- Create
Public Awareness Materials and Campaigns to inspire
participants to come to marriage education classes. (recruiting
participants for classes)
- Screen for effective presenters
and keep them motivated
- Learn organizational how to’s (utilize all our forms, fliers, etc.!) and how to efficiently build a network of providers
- Design
events that the public loves to attend!
- Teach DO’s and Do NOT’s (ethics) to make classes more fun and safe
Suggestion:
Year One expense for Technical Assistance -$16,000 .
Build in site visits to your site for hands on
work. Fee, transportation and lodging $2,000/visit.
Year Two - forward -- $12,000 + $2,000/site
visit as needed throughout.

HEAD START RFP’s ask that Head Start organizations associate
with organizations with demonstrated healthy marriage work.
ARC has worked in the
Healthy Marriage Initiative since 1997. ARC’s history includes involvement in
the birth of both the Dallas and the Rio Grande Valley initiatives and ARC
healthy marriage curriculums are used worldwide for healthy marriage
programming (U.S., Europe and Asia).
