FAR's Mission: To increase the strength and ability of Dallas/Ft. Worth residents to create and maintain safe, lasting marriages and families that produce healthier, happier, productive individuals and safe, loving homes for children.

Our Outreach: FAR works by reaching out to different organizations and groups in the North Texas area and collaborating with them to strengthen families in their community.  By raising emotional intelligence, wisdom and skills of families, FAR (along with its collaborative partners) hopes to create stronger, healthier happier individuals, families and communities.

The Challenge: Family dissolution is approaching
epidemic proportions.
 

 Cities with citizens and collaborative organizations united to educate and provide opportunities for relationship skill-building have achieved remarkable results toward safer, healthier, families. (see articles)

FAR offers its collaborative partner organizations (and also offers the public) many different seminars and types of educational training  regarding the importance and practical "how to's" of building strong and happy relationships.  Trainings (largely underwritten by FAR) will be offered to the staff of community agencies and organizations to enable them to provide courses to the members/clientele of their organization. Classes will also be offered directly to the public. Trainings and classes will cover topics such as the "how-to’s" of building successful marriages, dating safely, partnering for success and safety, marriage/relationship skills and mothering, fathering and co-parenting skills. The primary targets for our outreach  are (Click below for special events and information):

• Schools:  We work with schools to setup programs that teach young adults important relationship and family skills to help them navigate current and future relationships with family, friends and co-workers.

• Faith-based Organizations:  We provide training and assistance to leaders and staff of faith based organizations to lower the divorce rate and strengthen commitments to marriage. Trainings include programs enhancing emotional literacy and right choices for youth, premarital education, and marriage education for new and long-term marriages. • Hospitals:   We work with hospitals, initially through child birth classes, to teach mothers (single or married) and fathers relationship skills that are important to maintaining the strong connections necessary for raising a healthy, happy child and building healthy families.

• Agencies and Organizations:  We offer trainings to educate agencies and organizations on the importance of skills education for relationships. We also offer trainings to equip the personnel of agencies and organizations to teach relationship education as an additional and important service to improve the health and well-being of their clients/members.

Our History:  FAR (Families Are Relationships) is a newly formed, non-profit organization serving the Dallas/Ft. Worth metroplex.  Our organization follows the model of First Things First, a Chattanooga, TN non-profit organization formed to decrease divorce rate, lower out of wedlock births, and strengthen parental involvement in the lives of their children. 

Our Goals:  FAR's objective is to train, teach and mentor leaders of communities to disseminate relationship skills to others and to collaborate with them as service providers of relationship/marriage skills.  By training others and partnering with other organizations with similar goals, we hope to expand our operation and outreach dramatically.
