Says George Philippi, Jr. MA.; C.S.C.S. Certified Fitness Trainer:

A person changing from average “couch potato” physique to a “killer body” will need to weight train 1 hour per day, 3 days per week for 2 – 4 years! (Cost of personal trainers range from $50-$100/hour.) Additional cardiovascular exercise necessary is 1 hour per day to achieve this goal. Total for two years exercise- 1386 hours! Ideally, further weight/other training of 1 hour/day 2 to 3 times per week is optimal. The grocery bill to eat “right” for the desired body appearance typically costs $150 per week (a conservative number). Estimated cost (not including membership fees) of 2 years of training $52,000.

Says Susie Starrett, Tennis Professional, T Bar M Tennis Club:

A person attempting to improve from beginner to intermediate tennis player will need 2 – 4 years of lessons ($50 per hour) two times per week. This beginner will need to practice in league or other games 3 to 4 times per week for 2 years minimum. To improve from intermediate to excellent will require 2 – 4 years additional lessons, 3 times per week and play 5 times per week of practice play, sometimes twice per day. Minimum cost for first stage of development over two years, not including club fees: $10, 400. Time required- 1,040 hours.

Says , Eddie Murray, Golf Professional, Glen Eagles Country Club:

A person who begins golfing will initially need at least 2 months of weekly lessons ranging in cost from $50 to $85 per hour. Extensive practice, in addition, will be required to achieve minimal competency. To practice at Glen Eagles membership is required. Cost of membership is currently $38,000 and dues for membership are a minimum of $450 per month. To play golf, Glen Eagles requires members to rent carts. Carts are $14.00 per round/day. Total cost in first year is $45,256 (playing golf 2 times/week). Amount of time to achieve average proficiency is unknown.

Says Jalaine of CompUSA, Computer Training:

Level-one computer courses, 6 hours in length, are $195 per person. ($32.50 per hour). Additional practice is required to gain proficiency (hours unknown).

Says Glen Agritelli, Owner/President T Bar M Tennis Club:

Families in the metroplex eat outside the home 4 to 5 times per week. An average dinner for two at Blue Mesa restaurant costs $40 - $45. An average family (including small children) dinner for 4 at Blue Mesa costs $55 - $60. Cost for two people to eat out 4 times per week $160 -$180 , per month  $640- $732 or per year $8,320 - $9360.

Says Thomas of Esquire Travel:

An average ski trip to Vail in moderate lodging for one week will cost  a couple $3,000 or more. An average trip to Destin’s beach will cost a couple $2,000 or more. During peak or holiday seasons the costs are likely to double.

Relationship skills classes to gain lifetime skills and lasting pleasure with loved ones cost $15 per person per hour of class (including materials). The 1-day "If You Really Love Me" beginning basic communicatoion skills seminar is 8 hours of class time over one day. The 2-day intensive communication conflict resolution and enhancement of emotional connection is 16 hours of class, generally over Saturday and Sunday.  The PAIRS Eight Week seminar is 24 hours of class time, generally 3 hours for 8 weeks and covers the materials in the 1-day and 2-day seminars, with additional information on couples personalities and personality interactions.  The Mastery Skills Course to achieve emotional literacy and competence requires 120 hours of couple participation over 16 weeks and covers a comprehensive skills set for couples who are committed to making their relationships last a lifetime.
